I broke my GUI

I can't believe I broke KDE.

I don't even know how I did it!

I even wiped the partitions and re-installed . . . which is a big no-no in Linux, simply because it's really not necessary . . . but since I didn't know what I did, I didn't know how to repair the damage . . .

But the reinstall didn't change anything, except now I think I've narrowed it down to something to do with my XF86Config4 file . . . I swapped it with the original and I can boot into KDE, but if I run my customized TV-out config with the nvidia drivers, it hangs at startup. Something about "interprocess communication." I've searched Google but there haven't been any decent explanations, at least none that seem to have applied to my situation . . . very frustrating.

But I'm going to take a little break, grab a bite and watch a movie with my sister, and then come back to it when I've had a little distance.

If anyone has any ideas in the meantime, please let me know. I'm running on empty.

(FWIW: Gnome works just fine, and I like Gnome better anyway, but 1) the fact that KDE worked and then stopped working for no apparent reason bugs the hell out of me, and 2) KDE supposedly works better with MythTV's GUI.)
