Post-Surgery, Revisited

Well, it's been a week since my surgery and I just returned from the dentist's office with a clean bill of health. All I need to do for the next couple of weeks is rinse the wounds with peroxide and mouthwash and try to keep my mouth clean.

It wasn't a fun experience -- I really wouldn't recommend everyone just going out and getting their wisdom teeth extracted, I'd probably suggest going to Disney World if you find yourself with an available week or so. That being said, I guess I'm glad I got it done and I'm definitely glad that it wasn't complicated by infection or anything else (knock on wood).

I will say this: stay away from percocet. It did a number on me around day three. During the night, I got real disoriented and almost passed out walking back from the bathroom to my bed ... Besides which, the pain killing aspect of the drug wasn't all that great, and I've had much more success taking Advil every six hours. And I like feeling real again.

So, maybe I jumped the gun on the whole "I'm doing fine" part in my last post, but now it's been a week and now I can say with more authority that I'm doing fine, and hopefully I'll keep up the pace of this speedy recovery.

I haven't decided whether I'm coming back Saturday or Sunday. If Saturday, it means I can spend a day to get situated in Tallahassee before jumping back into work. School starts Tuesday, and I will be hitting the ground running. I already have readings/papers due on Tuesday at 1pm, so I guess you can say "vacation's over."
