I cancelled my TiVo account.
I feel like an awful person! I haven't felt this guilty since the day I first put together a Windows 95 computer and moved my LC III out of the way to make room on the desk. :(
They even offered me a discounted rate to stay with them! I almost did it. I was close. But I remembered that I really don't need it, and I can use that money each month for something better: a movie ticket; a book from a used bookstore; or a CD on Half.com.
Still, I feel like I let the company down. I've let TiVo down. That little TiVo logo has such a sad face right now. The company needed me--they're not going to last with all the competition from cable companies and whatnot--and I let them down. Now, without my thirteen dollars a month, they're going to go bankrupt. It's all my fault!

As a postscript, I should mention that I had planned to cancel my Netflix account, too, but I couldn't bring myself to cancel it outright. However, I did downgrade to the $9.99/month plan. Now I can still have an unlimited number of rentals per month, but only one movie at a time. This is fine because that's about all I can handle in a week anyway, and it's still cheaper than Blockbuster.
