Time to discuss some blog history.
I recently imported in this blog my first LiveJournal post. It's decidedly 'non-content,' but noteworthy nevertheless.
I started my LiveJournal because a close friend of mine sent me an invite. At that time, he was an active member in the emerging community that I was later to find particularly intriguing. My initial reaction to the technology was one of apathy, and my first three posts from April 2001 illustrate that point. If I had any expectations of use, it was to mimic the "computer subconscious" of Douglas Coupland's Microserfs.
Soon thereafter, however, I got "sucked in." Almost immediately, I became a paid member -- and I have been one ever since.
(It's interesting to note that my motivation for upgrading my status was to actually start hosting a journal through BenClark.com. Over time, my LiveJournal became a force all to itself, and only recently have I made any sort of effort to combine the two again.)
