Thanks in part to a post at Boing Boing, I just received John Battelle's The Search: How Google and its rivals rewrote the rules of business and transformed our culture. Although the title makes it seem like a business manual, it's more about the cult(ure) of "the search engine," and Google's role in transforming what that meant.

I haven't started reading it yet, but I'll try to post a critique in a few days.
