Outside Red Rock Canyon, Nevada

January 2009

I'm texting while I wait for the movie to start so I don't feel left out. Immersed in the under 18 crowd.

Not 'web guy' or 'server guy' today, right now I'm 'IT guy' thanks to a nasty little trojan virus: Antivirus 360. Playing it safe: DBANing.

They are painting the interior walls just outside of my office suite door and the fumes are so strong that I have an instant headache.

I thought I had gloves in my car. I did not. My hands are frozen. I had to drive with my knee while I sat on my hands. It was about 30-32.

Enjoying the free Internet at Hopkins Eatery. just ate "The Hummer", my new fave sandwich: hummus, turkey, feta cheese, olives, etc. Yum!

Okay, where did my morning just go? I wrote a few e-mails, posted to LJ, and it's already 10:30.

Just had awful service at the Chili's on campus. The food was also very bad. How do you screw up chicken fingers?

Thanks to Thunderbird, IMAP, and Gmail, I can safely archive (and index!) these old e-mails. Sweet.

I found an old archive hidden on my Mac of e-mails I saved from the year 2000. Which got me started on importing other old e-mails, too.

Trying out Spanning Sync now for Google/iCal syncing. Potential problems: Can't live-update my iPod touch. Otherwise, seamless & effective!

Also, Apple's Mail app is atrocious. Thunderbird is so much better and has the added benefit of being cross-platform.

Trying MobileMe for 60 days, but can already tell that it won't work out: iCal updates on my iPod touch aren't updated often enough.

With some of my Christmas money, I bought a Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS for my car. I'll give it a try on my way to work in the morning!

Listening to Beardfish, _Sleeping In Traffic Pt 2_. I love prog rock so much.

Meeting today with HR about my promotion. Dear sirs, clock is ticking. Better make this stick soon, or it's a lot of work for nothing.

Allow me to welcome myself back to the land of being-at-work and always-on Internet. Queue up the next vacation, please.
