My new job & How I spent my summer vacation

I'll lead with the big news first: I now work for Jackson River as a Web Producer!

Today was my first day, and I think it went well. I still need to get up to speed, but I'm optimistic that full speed isn't too far away. The group at Jackson River seems like a great group, a cool group, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them better.

No Longer a Tallahassee Resident

I'm writing this from a hotel in Fredericksburg, VA‎. Starting tomorrow, we will be full time residents of the greater Washington, DC area! Our time in Tallahassee – and Florida – has come to an end.

We moved out of our apartment in Tallahassee yesterday. It took us nearly 12 straight hours of working, cleaning and packing, but we did it! I don't have the words to describe how gross we felt at the end of the day, but we decided that we would be better off getting on down the road. We made it as far as Jacksonville, found a hotel near the airport, and collapsed.

Onward and Upward

In less than two weeks, I will be married! More to come on that subject, certainly — and plenty of pictures from the wedding and our honeymoon cruise.

While the wedding is a happy occasion, following the wedding comes some bittersweet news. After over ten years in Tallahassee — minus 9 months in Bloomington, Indiana — and three years working at the FSU College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, my wife and I will be leaving. We are moving to the DC area so that she may attend University of Maryland's graduate program in journalism.

Going on a Cruise

It would seem that I am going on a cruise in late October. This will be my first ever cruise. We are leaving out of Miami for 7 days around the eastern Caribbean.

The trip was masterminded by Nick and Roberta, my married friends who live in D.C., and I will (quite unfortunately) be going unaccompanied. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to a great time and an even greater bill.

If anyone has been on a cruise, I'd love some pointers. I'm a noob.

Falling Off The Edge Of The World

People throw around the word "neglect" so much that it loses all meaning. Yeah, yeah, I haven't updated this blog in a month or so. I feel your pain. I just haven't had a whole heck of a lot to update about. Here's a real brief overview of what's been going on:

(1) Work is the same, good or bad. I'm settling in to the day-to-day patterns.

(2) I went to visit some friends in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area one weekend this past month, and I spent some time contemplating a move up there. I'm still thinking very seriously of it, and more to be updated on that subject later on.

Yeah, I'm just not good at this.

Every few weeks or so, I remember that I have a blog here. There's only a handful of people who read this, but that doesn't mean I should treat you like second-class citizens, right? Exactly. Yeah, I'm just not good at this.

Emergence from the land of technology

I've been working a lot these past few weeks.
