Moving back to Debian, like I never left

Last night, I tried to upgrade from PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.3 on my Arch Linux install on this server. I ended up replacing it with Debian instead.

Drupal Performance DOPE Take-Aways

My last post on this subject was just a collection of notes. I've edited it down to a list of actual things that should be done to improve Drupal performance.

Drupal Performance DOPE Notes

Some notes related to Drupal performance that I compiled during my Day of Personal Enrichment (DOPE) at Jackson River.

My new job & How I spent my summer vacation

I'll lead with the big news first: I now work for Jackson River as a Web Producer!

Today was my first day, and I think it went well. I still need to get up to speed, but I'm optimistic that full speed isn't too far away. The group at Jackson River seems like a great group, a cool group, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them better.

How to configure a Drupal site in a virtual subdirectory under Lighttpd

Drupal offers built-in support for sites in virtual subdirectories, e.g. www.example.com/subdir, but getting this up and running under Lighttpd is not well documented. Fear not, for it can be done with only minor configuration file tweaks and a few extra mod_rewrite directives.

How to run multisite Drupal on Lighttpd

Let's start with the obvious: if you run more than one Drupal site on a server, you should be running those sites in a Drupal multisite configuration. If you're looking for exceptional Drupal performance and a small memory footprint, you should experiment with Lighttpd. This howto explains how to run multisite Drupal on Lighttpd.

Still working on converting site to Drupal

Exactly one year ago today, I had just installed Drupal at BenClark.com and I posted a "hello world" to prove it. A year later, I am still working on finishing the content migration from WordPress to Drupal. (Tsk tsk on me...)

What's New? Road Trip!

Tonight begins my 5,000 mile road trip! My friend Josh and I are getting into my 2008 Toyota Matrix after I get off of work. We'll be driving from Tallahassee, FL, straight to Boulder, CO, on I-70 (through Missouri & Kansas). We're estimating that to be a 25 hour stretch. Then after a day or two in Boulder, we go to Moab, UT, and finish up around Las Cruces, NM, before heading back on I-10.

This is my first Drupal-powered blog post

This is my first Drupal-powered blog post here at benclark.com, and I'm proud to report that it posted just fine.

Yeah, I'm just not good at this.

Every few weeks or so, I remember that I have a blog here. There's only a handful of people who read this, but that doesn't mean I should treat you like second-class citizens, right? Exactly. Yeah, I'm just not good at this.
